Neutronized is an Italian game development studio which was founded in 2010. The company focuses on making "polished, colorful games with a fun first and goal oriented approach".[1]

Neutronized was first publicly recognized when their game, Sky Island, was featured in Edge Magazine.

History[]

From its formation in 2010, Neutronized's releases were solely Flash browser games that were sometimes published by Miniclip. In Early 2012, they turned to mobile development and released Roar Rampage iOS in 2013.

In November of 2015, Gionathan took a six-month holiday in Finland after the long and unsuccessful development of Asterism, where he instead began working on Super Cat Tales. When he returned to Italy in 2016, Super Cat Tales was completed and published by FDG Entertainment. It became the most popular franchise of any Neutronized game[citation needed] that led to a prequel and spin-off, along with integrating the Neutronized universe.

Flash deprecation[]

As Flash drew closer to the end of its deprecation, Neutronized's mobile releases included remakes or ports of the Flash games they initially released on browser. Other mobile releases included collaborations with UK developers Nitrome publishing their games Drop Wizard Tower and Slime Pizza. Some browser games have been emulated to Poki.

Staff[]

Neutronized currently has one known combined artist/programmer, Gionathan Pesaresi. Separate composers provide music for certain games.

Developmental process[]

Much of the designs for components of a game such as enemies and power-ups are done on paper. After much detail has been established through multiple sketches, the component is pixelated and then programmed into the game.

As games are in development, Neutronized sometimes reveals the raw sketches of an upcoming game's components on their Facebook page.[2]

Website[]

Neutronized hosts their browser games on their website at Neutronized.com. The website went online on April 19, 2010. On January 6, 2020, Neutronized updated their website to celebrate their tenth anniversary. The front page of the new website showcases their mobile releases in interactive thumbnails. While no longer displayed on the new website, their browser games are still accessible via direct URL, although they lead to a playable version on a defunct version of the website.

The browser games will be either ported to mobile or bundled into a desktop build, with added support for features such as the joypad.[3]

Media appearances[]

  • The Neutronized mascot appears in the AdventureIslands game Poor Bunny! as an unlockable, playable character.
